About

Drupal architect, LAMP developer, and open source advocate. Spends free (?) time drinking coffee, enjoying good beer, good music, rollerskating and running around with three awesome little girls.
In the early 90s I was introduced to the Internet, welcomed by a world of Usenet, gopher, and MUDs. What an awesome thing this is, I thought, and quickly became addicted and continue to be to this day. My roots are in open source and I still feel mildly lost when confronted with a Windows computer, though these days my Macbook Pro and a 27" iMac see a lot more use than my Ubuntu laptop-- there's a lot to be said for ease of use.
I've seen the Internet grow and change from it's beginnings-- I can still distinctly remember exclaiming in shock, "Graphics don't belong on the web!" Little did I know. My programming roots began in C and MOO, though my interest quickly transition to the web as browsers began to support more advanced HTML, Perl, PHP, mySQL, and CSS.
In the mid-90s I built and launched my first "real" site, a community website targeted at aspiring writers and poets, formed around not only forums but also an interactive poetry script written in PHP and mySQL, interactive stories, contests, and games.
I continued to dabble in web technologies through the years on a part-time basis by building various websites for personal and hobby use, as well as small consultation gigs, working primarily with various open source content management systems, until I stumbled upon Drupal in 2005.
Since then I've concentrated my efforts in Drupal and LAMP (Linux Apache mySQL PHP) development, with varied stints in quality assurance, Linux server administration, mySQL performance optimization, C++ development, documentation, technical support, and troubleshooting. I've led and managed teams of developers, which included delegation of tasks, internal training and mentorship, writing up specs, building internal processes, workflows and systems, coding standards and other collaborative development strategies. I live and breathe Drupal, open source, and web technology in almost any capacity I can get my hands on.
My current interests remain with Drupal, though mobile and app development is also high on this list, especially when the two combine. I enjoy working with third party APIs and integration, providing best practices and site architectural support, and just working on really great projects.
